Duchess of Abstract Fantasies-Dress

I've been stalling on writing this because of my lack of words to explain or sum up what all coronation is/was for me. I decided the best place to start is my dress.
Now, dress is an understatement for what you wear to coronation, think of it more like a "gown" more like the hype of 'what is princess kate going to wear to her wedding'. Yes, no exaggeration. The dress is the whole point of coronation you walk around displaying this dress that represents your family and yourself for all of the community to see. The dress is absolutely top secret and the process takes at least six months or more. My dress started in June of 2010. You are made to fill out a questionnaire about yourself so the women in charge (an organization known as las donas) can decide what your dress theme is.
The overall theme was the historical fashions throughout the world; my theme was 'abstract fascination' modeled after the art deco/art neuvo time period.
It all started as a drawing of my dress where I could say, add this take out that, (you can see the original sketch in some of the photos; I took out the horn feathers, and weirdo sleeve things that's about it!) Throughout the process of jeweled pieces and segments of my train & dress coming together I fell in love with it more & more! It is 100% hand made and made for me and it's definitely top 3 most prized processions. If my house ever caught fire I would definitely be dragging all 30 something pounds of this out with me!
2nd meeting in September I think, my first peek!

3rd visit sometime in November; My initials on the bottom of the train
the whole process is pretty much a paint by numbers with fabric

I don't think I could thank my dress makers & the designer/artists of my dress enough. They are so gifted and amazing and put so many hours into the most amazing thing I've ever seen!
Also my parents for doing all this for me!

"True Friends are like Diamonds Precious & Rare"

Hello blognation, I could update you on my life, but today I feel like updating on the people involved in my life. These girls have stolen my heart this year in more ways than one. They are always there for a laugh and a smile and I don't think I have more fun than I do with this crew!! There's kind of a lot of them, but I like it that way! No matter if we are tanning, watching the bachelor, having Thanksgiving dinner, or drinking they always make everything absolutely perfect!
(From Left to Right...)
Tara- I met her sometime ago officially at a Los Cucos, she was hung over and had driven all night from Oklahoma because she went to school at OU her freshman year (...I know right?!). Anyways by some great streak of luck I had ended up having a whole new 3 girls to meet because of being roomate-less after not wanting to live in the sorority house and other things. Seriously thank God this all happened because I could not live without her!! I love her humor, and how straight forward she is, her love for tanning, shit talking, and eating food. What more could you ask for in a friend?!
ME-just to not get you out of order girl second to the left is your one and only
Kristin- I've already talked about her enough for a life time, she's always around for a laugh, an injury, or any other case of bad luck. She's also always around for ME. Can't wait for coronation with her and to be reunited when we room again!! She will one day be a great GREAT doctor (I already highly recommend her) and although I'm so scared she'll get way too busy, I'm also so proud of her!
Haley- I met this crazy girl walking into one of her apartment parties, I can't remember how I'd gotten talked into going, but she also talked me into taking shots and trying firefly for the first time, and the game boom. Since then I totally knew she was a winner! Also Kristin threw up in her bathroom that night and she seriously couldn't have cared less. Jackpot!
Sally- I met Sally the same night as haley I think, but I really got to know her as being just a flight of stairs away. From Thanksgiving, Casino Night, busting in on her for pool floats to sled in the snow I can already tell it's a very promising friendship!
Jackie-another roomie, also met her at Los Cucos where Tara told us how she peed on a chair or something, I was a little scared, but it's been so much fun. If you ever need someone to bake, this kid. Also she's just about always home when I am to entertain me with studying standing up or watching some disney channel show. My personal favorite was her trying to convince me the Christmas music on the TV music channel rocked...epic fail.
Courtney-last & final roomie of this year I seriously didn't know what to think of this girl moving in. From her quiet boyfriend to her HUGE dresser and headboard she was determined to have. I started liking her when she cleaned just about every day and her country accent along with her love for crowns. I've never met someone so obsessed with getting engaged/married and weddings. She will cry if you hurt her feelings, need to snuggle with someone if she's scared, and be down to do anything, but school work with you and I love her for it.
Katie- we go wayy back, cambridge days freshman year back. I met her as the loud girls across the hall from Nick & Will. And fell in love with her witty sense of humor since day one! So thankful for her great stories, drunken noodles, and super power of smartness to help me in accounting. She will bring you flowers if she messes up, give you her notes if you miss class, drive you to school every day, be down to do anything at anytime, and be the life of the party at any party!

can't believe you guys are moving to Aspen!! The Lofts will miss you!

millions of thanks to our two great photographers! Nick & Steve!!
These two have the most patience in the world to put up with all of our posing!
The End
Next up: Coronation! only a week away!

Something Old, Something New

This weekend my parents came to town!
Now being a college student it is a very special thing when mom & dad make the long (or short) haul to your stomping grounds. You always want to take them to that new restaurant (because uhh it's good but I don't want to pay), you've made your grocery list a good 7 days in advanced ( I seriously switched to the mini travel toothpaste until my parents came),you've beeen trying to clean your apartment for a good 3 days to no success, and you've run your car to the bare minimum so your parents will have to fill it up. But secretly all of us college kids just missed our moms & dads so much we wouldn't mind just hanging in the hotel & getting hugged on a little bit.
Near College Station is a little town called Round Top where this HUGE antique show is. I'm not quite sure why I chose this over the outlet malls, but I sure got to take in a lot. It's amazing what people will buy for old things, small barbie toys, giant dragons, bear heads, old school coke machines, hand made trinkets, and home made food. Basically I think people buy just about anything with enough beer & friends around them and that's pretty much what we did!

Meet Aflac[not for sale]... my mom got on me for taking some pictures of him because "I'd scare him" and the woman came out and said "That's hookaay he rides on the back of a Harley Davidson that won't scare him one bit"
You thought I was kidding about the giant dragon didn't you...

Just some treasures these 2 strangers found (hint: if you are wanting to come to the antique show DON'T bring a rolly basket)

I just really loved this tents name, but then I really didn't want to buy anything because it creeped me out!
Also Texas Bluebonnets have bloomed early!! Look at these home owners beautiful front lawn!
All in all it was a weekend well spent, gotta love my parents & adventures.
Up next: Chillifest, Snook, TX no chilli needed!
